Engineering is one of the fastest-growing employment areas, for several strong reasons. As technical progress permeates industrial processes in manufacturing, food technology and agriculture, engineers are increasingly in demand. If you take chemistry courses, for example, there are a variety of concentrations within chemical engineering that may appeal to you such as biotechnology, petroleum engineering, or biomedicine. Further, due to advances in technology, there is a growing shortage of graduates from engineering programs. You may arrange advanced placement (AP) tests and obtain an updated list of engineering department requirements from the registrar's office. Chemical engineers apply the principles of chemistry and biology to solve problems in the production of chemicals, fuel, pharmaceuticals, and many other products. They design processes and equipment for large-scale manufacturing, plan and test production methods and byproducts treatment, and direct facility operations. Most chemical engineers have a bachelors degree in chemical engineering, as well as internship experience. The average salary for chemical engineers was $97,360 as reported the US Bureau of Labor Statistics in May 2015.
Biomedical engineers design equipment, devices, computer systems, and software used in healthcare. Bachelors degree programs in bioengineering include extensive lab-work, and courses such as fluid mechanics, computer programming, chemistry courses, and biomaterials. The median annual wage for biomedical engineers was $86,220 in May 2015. Further, employment of biomedical engineers is projected to grow 23% in the next decade, faster than the average for all occupations.

Solar Cell Technology
The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) leads public research in innovative solar power technologies. Photovoltaic arrays, or PV for short, harness the sun?s power and turn it into electricity. When the sun shines onto a solar panel, photons are absorbed by the cells in the panel, which creates an electric field across the layers. Photovoltaic arrays must be mounted on a stable, durable structure that tilts the PV array at a fixed angle determined by the local latitude. To obtain the highest annual energy output, modules in the northern hemisphere are pointed due south and inclined at an angle equal to the local latitude. Alternatively, automatic mechanisms may be installed to move panels to track the sun across the sky, which provides more energy and a higher return on investment (ROI). Inverters are used to convert the direct current (DC) electricity generated by solar photovoltaic modules into alternating current (AC). Finally, large batteries allow for the storage of solar photovoltaic energy when bad weather blocks sunlight from reaching the photovoltaic panels.
Organic PV, or OPV, cells are composed of carbon-rich polymers and can be tailored to enhance a specific function of the cell, such as sensitivity to a certain type of light. This technology has the theoretical potential to provide electricity at a lower cost than silicon or thin-film technologies. Concentration PV, also known as CPV, focuses sunlight onto a solar cell by using a mirror or lens. By focusing sunlight onto a small area, less PV material is required. This technology uses mirrors to reflect and concentrate sunlight onto receivers that collect solar energy and convert it to heat, which can then be used to produce electricity.
Technical programs are a low-cost alternative to attending a regular four-year university, and you can earn good money as a highly-skilled, technical specialist. If you remain true to your career interests, via Huntington University in-state tuition, your overall job earnings will increase as you gain experience. If you're currently employed, you can take online technical education classes in your free time to advance your career. Massive Open Online Courses are known as MOOCs, utilizing interactive platforms such as Blackboard, and mobile apps. For example, Khan Academy now offers free lecture videos served through YouTube. Then there's Gardner Webb University robotics lab, with enrolled students from around the world.
Financial Aid Information
Government scholarships and Pell grant applications, combined with academic scholarships, only account for a third of total college aid. Student loans, work-study earnings, and personal savings make up the remaining two-thirds. The official FAFSA website is www.fafsa.ed.gov and is free to use. Many parents make mistakes when filling out the FAFSA information, including leaving some fields blank, spelling names wrong, and not entering social security numbers completely. Academic scholarships are highly competitive, and are usually awarded either by the admissions office, or individual academic departments.
Student loans often carry an origination fee. Origination fees are a one-time charge based on the amount of the loan. Financial aid may be administered via the Department of Education or through your school's financial aid office. High school grades are the most important factor in gaining admission to the college of your choice, along with letters of recommendation. According to Somerset Community College geomatics, an ideal academic record consists of a high GPA in courses of progressive difficulty. Peterson's scholarship search is good to check not only for college scholarships, but also for the extensive resources on the college application process. The Gates Millennium Scholars program is a minority scholarship program targeted towards outstanding African-American, American-Indian, and Latino students.

Business & Engineering Jobs
As the economy improves, many private firms are beginning to hire more technical personnel. Whether you are an experienced educator, or a recent graduate, you can seek a new position. The Fundamentals of Engineering exam should be taken immediately after earning a bachelors degree from an ABET-accredited program. Engineers who pass this exam are called engineers in training (EIT), or engineer interns. After meeting work experience requirements, engineer interns can attempt a second certifying exam, called the Principles and Practice of Engineering Exam. Finding out about
